DoseLab summary

Phase 2 RTOG trial of preoperative IMRT with capecitabine and oxaliplatin for locally advanced rectal cancer. Treatment was 45 Gy in 25 fractions with IMRT to the pelvis, then a 3D conformal boost of 5.4 Gy in 3 fractions. Section 6.5 lists the IMRT planning constraints for small bowel (absolute volumes), femoral heads and bladder, and section 6.7 the variation-acceptable levels. DoseLab read sections 6.1–6.7 of the IROC Houston copy (version date 17 April 2008, update 30 March 2010). The trial results were published by Hong et al. in 2015.

Why this is useful

The US cooperative-group rectal IMRT protocol behind the bladder and femoral head limits used in many rectal plans, with per-protocol and variation-acceptable levels.
